Holy Pointcast, Batman - scrolling news on a cellphone!
textually.org: - always-on scrolling news on your cellphone! I'm glad to see always-on data feeds coming to cellphones - about time!

Pointcast did this for PCs back in the "90s, and marketers everywhere went bonkers for "push content." Geeks like me hated it -- all that slick "advertainment" clogging up the networks and mindset of people who were trying to get their work done. Part of the problem was the clunky implementation of the app, and the limited network capacity at that time.
Now, networks capacity is much greater - and there's an always-on, always-with-you delivery platform in most everyone's pocket. So how long before I can subscribe to highly personalized, always-learning data feed that TRULY meets my lifestyle needs? I could definately get used to THAT kind of service.
Holy chrispy crap, thanks for helping me remember the name...
Pointcast!!! Freaked newspapers out in a big way back in 1995/1996. Oh Pointcast, how I loved you're choppy animation resource hungry betas for Chicago (aka Windows 95).
